I am a PhD. student living in Amsterdam. You can know more about me by visiting my main page.
InSight is a medium to hone my skills at photography. Though I had a Fujifilm Finepix 4800Z as early as in 2001, I was almost always a holiday photographer. Hopefully the weight of my recently acquired Nikon D70 will force me to think about that again!
The website is powered by Movable Type 3.2 and the truth be told, inspired a lot by the user interface of one of my favorite photoblogs - Chromasia. Though the UI is inspired, the XHTML and CSS codes are my own. The pages of the website are "XHTML 1.0 Strict" and CSS 2.0 compliant.
Clicking on a full sized image in InSight will popup a window with the metadata of the shot and the comments. I use a popup, and not open it in the same window because I feel that you, like me, would want to be able to see the image when commenting on it. This scheme is unlike that of most photoblogs where clicking on the images takes you to the previous image. I just cannot understand the logic behind such an interface because intuitively when I click on a image, it means I am interested in knowing more about the image, not that I want to see the previous image!
This site does not use "nofollow" or the redirect mechanism in MovableType. That is the least I can do for people kind enough to leave comments.
Most browsers support navigation using keyboard shortcuts called AccessKeys, defined by the website you're visiting. In Windows, you can press ALT + an AccessKey; on a Macintosh, you can press Control + an AccessKey. Please note that in Internet Explorer for Windows, if the AccessKey refers to another page, pressing ALT + an AccessKey will only shift focus to the link. You must then press Enter to follow the link. In Windows, ALT + some key is also used for menu shortcuts. If one of my AccessKeys is usurping a menu shortcut of yours, you can always access the menu shortcut by typing ALT then the key.
Throughout InSight, the following accesskeys are defined for ease of navigation:
I am a privacy nut. Just like what I expect from others, I do not trace users at an individual level. Even though this hosted server might be able to do it (and might be doing), I do not care about how you spent your time on InSight. I do not care where you came from nor where you went. If you leave an email address when submitting a comment, it will not be displayed along with your comment, to prevent spam bots from getting to it. I will neither sell nor use your email address for any purpose other than to reply to your comment.
